Formula
Negative moneyline (favourite, e.g., -150): To-win = Risk × (100 / |odds|)
Positive moneyline (underdog, e.g., +220): To-win = Risk × (odds / 100)
Decimal Odds = (|odds| + 100) / 100 if positive, (100 / |odds|) + 1 if negative.
Implied Probability = 1 / Decimal Odds.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's a moneyline bet?
A moneyline bet is simply a bet on who wins, straight up. No spread, no handicap, just the team or player you back to win. American moneyline odds show how much you risk to win $100 on a favourite, or how much a $100 stake wins on an underdog.
What does -150 mean?
A minus sign marks the favourite. -150 means you risk $150 to win $100 (or $1.50 for every $1 of profit you want). That works out to an implied probability of around 60%.
What does +220 mean?
A plus sign marks the underdog. +220 means a $100 stake brings $220 in profit, for a total payout of $320. The implied probability is roughly 31%.
How do I turn moneyline into decimal odds?
For plus odds, divide by 100 and add 1, so +150 becomes 2.50 decimal. For minus odds, divide 100 by the number’s absolute value and add 1, so -150 = (100/150) + 1 = 1.667.
